Sónar and the Grec Festival collaborated for the first time last year, and are working together again this year, presenting the collaboration between two of the most important sonic researchers and artists of our era: the German electronic artist Alva Noto and the great Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto (winner of an Oscar for his soundtrack to “The Last Emperor”).
On this occasion, the two musicians have worked on a new album, “summvs” (which will be released on Germany’s renowned raster-noton label in May this year), and a joint tour they have christened the “s tour”, which can be enjoyed at Sónar 2011 with the closing concert in the special setting of the Teatre Grec, which will also be the prestigious finishing touch to Sónar 2011.
It is a new foray into the interaction between electronica and acoustic sounds - with the German processing sounds and images while the Japanese shows all his wisdom on the piano- and a new opportunity to appreciate the talent of two unique artists.
