OFFFMàtica 2011

The portrait has been a constant feature throughout the history of art. Since ancient times, the imitation and representation of the physical features and character of our fellow men have been responsible for a large proportion of plastic production in all human cultures. Today, using new technologies, we reinvent our identity in the virtual space on a daily basis; we redefine ourselves based on a reflection of our desires. We project ourselves as the people we would like to be. Or to put it another way, we construct subjective portraits of ourselves.

OFFFMàtica presents a selection of interactive works based around the concept of the portrait. From the treatment of pixels to reality and its representation, taking in interpretation and distorsion, the displays asks: how does technology depict us? And what parts of our identity —image, movement, character— does it use to do so?
OFFFMàtica is a joint production between OFFF, Sonar and CCCB that will take place between 9th and 19th June, in the traditional venue for SonarMàtica, on Floor -1 of the CCCB.
